WINNIPEG – Police are looking for help finding a missing teen in Winnipeg.
Nora Leah Rae, 15, of Crane River First Nation, Manitoba, was visiting family in Winnipeg. She was reported missing August 6.
RCMP say family members have had contact with Rae through social media as recently as August 20. But efforts to locate Rae and ensure her safe return home have been unsuccessful.
Rae is described as Aboriginal, with long brown hair and brown eyes. She is approximately 5’3”, 130 pounds.
If you have information that could help find her, please contact the Ste Rose du Lac RCMP at 204-447-3082 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477. (Global)
So I was talking with herrcolonel, and we managed to get on the topic of Medic’s Medigun pack. Specifically, how much it weighs and how much that German motherfucker is having to lug around on the battlefield all day.
Using this as a reference, I started out by thinking about the canister. It’s probably similar in weight and design to a fire extinguisher, specifically a handheld one. From doing a bit of poking around, it looks like it could possibly be a 2-liter canister. The scrapped meet the medic concept had a mixture of liquids creating the medigun fumes, which leads me to believe that the canister is filled with one liquid, and the pack another.
This means that the canister is carrying about 4 pounds of liquid. An empty 2.2 pound fire extinguisher weighs 4.8 pounds when empty (as in, it carries 2.2 pounds of fire extinguish-y stuff, but the case weighs 4.8). As such, I can safely assume that case weighs somewhere around 9 pounds, making the canister roughly 13 pounds.
So the pack needs 13 pounds to counterbalance that weight, or else it would be constantly sagging to the left. This brings us to 26 pounds.
The pack itself appears to be a 1 foot x 1 foot x 6 inches pack. To be fair, I decided to make it built from thin aluminum, and not from a heavier metal or with thicker sides. That adds on 14 pounds, bringing us to 40 pounds.
Now, a 1 foot cubic area is about 7.5 gallons; since this is half of that area, I’ll say 3.75. Since there’s probably tubing and components inside to combine the two ingredients in the pack and feed it to the medigun, I’ll round down to 3 gallons. That’s 24 pounds of liquid.
So 64 pounds is my rough estimate to how much the pack on his back weighs, ignoring the weight of everything attached to the pack, everything in the innerworkings of the pack, and the medigun itself.
So he’s running around with 64 pounds on his back all day, based on my somewhat generous estimates.
